Student Spotlight: Celebrating Our Stars!
Alright, fam, it’s time to shine a spotlight on some of the incredible individuals who are making Takoma Park Middle School such an amazing place! This month, we’re absolutely thrilled to feature Maria Garcia from the 7th grade. Maria has been consistently demonstrating exceptional leadership skills, not just within her own classes but also through her active involvement in the Student Government Association (SGA). She recently spearheaded a fantastic initiative to organize a school-wide recycling drive, which saw an unprecedented level of participation. Her dedication to making our school more environmentally friendly is truly inspiring. Maria isn't just about academics and leadership; she's also a talented artist. Her latest watercolor piece, depicting a vibrant local park, was selected for display at the community art gallery downtown. We’re so proud of her artistic vision and the way she uses her talents to enrich our school and community. Another student we need to give a massive shout-out to is Jamal Washington from the 8th grade. Jamal has shown remarkable resilience and determination in his pursuit of excellence in mathematics. Despite facing some initial challenges, he sought extra help, put in countless hours of practice, and recently achieved a perfect score on his advanced algebra exam. His teachers describe him as a student who never gives up and always approaches problems with a positive attitude. His commitment to his own learning is a true testament to his character. We also want to recognize the Robotics Club for their outstanding performance at the regional competition last weekend. The team, comprised of students from various grades, including Kevin Lee, Aisha Khan, and David Chen, not only showcased their technical prowess but also demonstrated incredible teamwork and problem-solving skills under pressure. They designed and programmed a robot that outperformed many high school teams, a truly astonishing achievement! These students, and many others like them, are the heart and soul of TPMS. They embody the values of hard work, perseverance, creativity, and community spirit that we strive to instill in everyone. We encourage all students to get involved, explore their passions, and know that your efforts, big or small, are recognized and celebrated. If you know a student who deserves to be in the spotlight, make sure to nominate them for the next newsletter! We love highlighting the successes and unique talents of our TPMS students. Keep shining bright, guys!

Your involvement is invaluable, and we want to keep those lines of communication wide open. First off, a huge thank you to everyone who participated in our recent Fall Festival. The turnout was fantastic, and the funds raised will go a long way in supporting our extracurricular programs. It’s events like these that really showcase the strength and spirit of our TPMS community coming together. We're also excited to announce a new initiative aimed at strengthening our parent engagement: the TPMS Parent Volunteer Program. If you're interested in volunteering, please contact Ms. Evans in the main office for more information. Your skills and time can make a significant difference! Furthermore, we want to remind everyone about the importance of staying connected through our School Website and Social Media Channels. Your input is genuinely appreciated and helps us shape a better experience for our students. Lastly, we’re always looking for ways to integrate our school with the local Takoma Park community. We believe that by working together, we can create even more enriching opportunities for our students and strengthen the bonds within our community.
